Martin’s career in IT began in his late teen years, working in service and support for a large shipping company. What started as a practical entry into the world of work soon developed into a deeper professional interest: how organisations use technology, and how well-designed processes can make complex operations feel simple. Over the next 16 years, he remained in the shipping industry – not because of ships, cargo, or ports, but because it offered continuous opportunities to improve systems and service experiences at scale.

Throughout his roles, Martin has worked closely with service management tools, operational processes, and technology-driven change. He has learned that successful IT is not just about software or infrastructure, but about enabling people to do their jobs without unnecessary friction.

Joining Dyalog Ltd brought a welcome shift in focus — from global logistics to a close-knit team developing a remarkable programming language. As IT Co-ordinator, Martin supports internal operations by organising and driving IT projects, ensuring that the department continuously delivers a reliable and helpful service. He also takes part in operations such as maintaining Jenkins build pipelines and helping ensure that new versions of APL are successfully built and ready for the world to use.

Outside work, Martin runs a medieval hardware business on the side – he is a purveyor of fine and useful goods inspired by life in the Middle Ages. Whether crafting historical items, refining a 3D print, or solving a practical problem, he enjoys combining creativity with solid craftsmanship.
