Home / FAQs / Typing APL Glyphs / Why Can’t I Type ⍲ (Nand) in Dyalog on Windows?
If Shift + Ctrl + 0 does not produce ⍲ (Nand), Windows is usually intercepting the keystroke as an input language shortcut. This is a Windows configuration issue rather than a Dyalog problem.
Why This Happens
Windows reserves certain key combinations for switching input languages and keyboard layouts. These shortcuts can override Dyalog glyph input.
How to Fix the Problem
Open Start → Search → Advanced keyboard settings.
Navigate to:
Set the following options to Not Assigned:
Important Adjustment
Even if the options already show Not Assigned, select another option and then revert back to Not Assigned. Windows may not reliably apply the setting without this step.
Side Effect
Disabling these shortcuts may affect keyboard-based language switching.
Summary
Failure to type ⍲ (Nand) is typically caused by Windows shortcut conflicts. Removing input language hotkeys resolves the issue.
