Home / FAQs / Installation and Configuration / How Do I Enter My Serial Number in Dyalog?
You can enter your serial number by starting Dyalog APL and running:
⎕SE.Dyalog.Serial sn
Replace sn with your serial number. Once entered, Dyalog will remove the “UNREGISTERED” banner.
When Is This Required?
If a valid serial number has not been entered, Dyalog displays:
Serial number: UNREGISTERED – not for commercial use
Alternative Method (Environment Variable)
Dyalog also recognises the serial number via the DYALOG_SERIAL configuration parameter or environment variable. If this is set before Dyalog starts, the serial number is applied automatically.
Platform-Specific Configuration
The serial number can be configured using standard operating system mechanisms on Windows, Linux / UNIX, macOS, and Raspberry Pi. Detailed instructions are available in the installation guides at docs.dyalog.com.
Registering Later
If you downloaded Dyalog without registering, you may register at any time via the Dyalog Downloads.
Important Licensing Note
Serial numbers are personal and usage-restricted.
