Michael is a member of the APL Tools group and works on tools written in APL for APL developers.
Michael became hooked on computing when he discovered a Commodore PET 2001 in school. The “obvious” career path took him to university, where he studied Computer Science for a few months before realising that he was more interested in the practical application than the theory, so he left university and started an IT and business apprenticeship. In his first job he was introduced to APL and, after some initial resistance, he was addicted! He subsequently supported APL-based software for the supply chain management department of a food company, before transitioning from the user/internal support desk to joining the company that provided this software. Here he migrated the software from STSC’s APL*PLUS to Dyalog and added a Microsoft Windows UI. Michael ultimately ended up managing the company, but when the trend changed from smart and custom solutions to more corporate ones, he realised that he needed to look for alternative ways to work with APL and joined Dyalog Ltd.
We promote a culture where innovation, fun, pride, and acceptance is part of our daily life. We come from a variety of backgrounds, and our diversity enhances our creativity.
…or perhaps even join the team!
Technical advice and assistance on all aspects of Dyalog usage is available by e-mail (support@dyalog.com) and/or telephone (+44 1256 830030 – limited to U.K. office hours). Limited advice on design and coding is available, but is not intended to replace the use of the printed and on-line documentation. Except when reporting an issue with the software, users are encouraged to seek advice from the user community via the Dyalog Forum (reading the content of the forums does not require membership).
